The EdTechFest: Tel Aviv will take place at the beautiful Walworth Barbour American International School December 22 & 23, 2013
Mission statement: Through a rigorous and dynamic American international education, WBAIS, a private secular school in Israel, inspires each student to cultivate a respect for diversity, develop a passion for life-long learning, achieve academic potential, assume leadership, contribute actively to society, and resolve conflict through dialogue and understanding.
With students coming from Jaffa and Tel Aviv in the south and from Haifa in the north, the WBAIS campus in Even Yehuda considers itself to be cone community and one family originating from more than 40 different countries.
AIS believes in the importance of integrating technology into the classroom curriculum in order to build digital literacy at an early age. As such, every classroom at AIS is equipped with digital HDMI projectors that are capable of streaming content from a centralized digital database, as well as directly from teacher and student devices. The Elementary & Middle School students are provided with iPads or Macbooks and guided by their teachers and technology integrators. High School students are part of a bring-your-own-laptop program for their studies. With a combination of effective technology practices and knowledgeable guidance AIS provides a leading education in technology.
In August of 2007, AIS moved to a new, state-of the-art facility on nineteen acres in the town of Even Yehuda, 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. With the Preschool, Elementary School, Middle School and High School each in their own separate building, the campus also houses the following facilities:
- Fine and Performing Arts Center with a 400 seat Auditorium
- 7 fully equipped science laboratories
- Double gymnasium with a dance studio and weight room
- 4 tennis courts
- Greenhouse, vegetable garden, fruit and olive orchards
- Nature Reserve
- Library Media Center
- Cafeteria and Teacher’s Lounge
- 3 regulation soccer/baseball athletic fields
- 3 playgrounds
- Outdoor basketball courts

The EdTechFest: Tel Aviv actually takes place in a beautiful town, 20 miles north of Tel Aviv, called Even Yehuda. The venue is the Walworth Barbour American International School of Israel. Even Yehuda is also close to two other coastal cities, Herzliya (14 miles south) and Netanya (5 miles north), that have both luxury and more moderately priced lodgings.
Note: While Hebrew and Arabic are the official languages of Israel, English is spoken everywhere. Virtually all official signs, including road signs, appear in all three languages.
